The Hilger family's roots in 'Senior Care' began in the 1940's when Jackie's (Bob Hilger's wife) grandmother Gertrude Gley, a Licensed Practical Nurse, decided to open a Rest Home. Gertrude had a two-story facility in Allwood, New Jersey where she cared for residents by providing rooms, utilities, meals, medications, and personal care very similar to today's Assisted Living. The Hilgers began their own Assisted Living business in Florida with their first facility in 1991. Bob says, "Assisted Living came naturally to us and was initially important because my mother developed the Alzheimer's disease." Today Marilyn (Bob's daughter) is next in line to guide the business in coming years. |
